Plans and implements all aspects of the world-wide corporate freight function. Provides cost effective, efficient, and traceable movement of company products both in-bound and out-bound. Develops, implements, and maintains policies and systems relating to monitoring costs and efficiencies of freight. Analyzes transportation and freight costs and recommends appropriate routing and carriers to be used. Ensures that the company is maximizing customer service for the lowest transportation cost which satisfies both customer and company needs. Directs the activities of regional EFI personnel who work closely with vendors, customers, and carriers to coordinate any problems such as misdirected and/or damaged goods.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes strategic direction and objectives for logistics/freight
Investigate and implement the most cost effective dispatch of each shipment in accordance with the customer's' instructions
Develop and utilize reports on logistics/freight information from in-house database systems
Maintain customer relationships and work with various outside vendors
Liaise with transport companies to ensure reliable distribution of collections and deliveries.
Negotiate cost effective practices and agreements with authorized sub-contractors
Manage the necessary documentation for the efficient, cost effective, and lawful execution of all freight movements
Work closely with Import/Export compliance department to ensure freight movement and compliance efforts are coordinated
Provide information necessary for maintaining freight insurance and filing cargo claims when required
Manage the freight payables function, including analysis and recording of costs in conjunction with finance
25-30% travel required - including international
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
BA/BS degree in Business Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
Minimum 10 years working in freight, logistics, and supply chain industry, including ocean/air/truck international freight experience
Knowledge of freight forwarding, carrier contract negotiations, TSA, Dept of Homeland Security regulations, C-TPAT certification, and all related documentation
Must have experience in selecting and managing 3PL warehouse facilities
Experience with SAP highly preferred
Experience in movement of capital equipment and/or consumables a plus
