Our client is a leading global distributor requiring an experienced Training Manager who will manage a team of trainers & develop training material to ensure the most efficient delivery of training is provided to new & existing employees across all sites, in all departments. You will support the operation with all training requirements, in accordance with the most current SOP’s, covering Health & Safety, Compliance requirements of the business and 5S standards. Training strategy and reporting will need to be developed to report back to the business on performance, plans & progress of the department.

Responsibilities:

Customer and Quality

Deliver robust training with clear measures of competence to contribute positively to the delivery of productivity and quality within the operational areas.

Develop the training team to be capable of delivering training in all areas of the operation, e.g. induction, cross training, skills assessment, compliance training.

Building capability within the current manual environments to then be able to deliver in an automated environment.

Work closely with department managers to understand cross training requirements.

Plan & agree the training and then manage the resource to deliver.

Manage procedure development and ensure document control standards are in place and maintained.

People

Lead and motivate the training supervisor and the team of trainers, developing talent to implement a succession plan.

Deliver regular one to ones, manage all aspects of sickness absence, disciplinary processes and employee relations management.

Develop and deliver training metrics, measuring effectiveness of training, inclusive of learner progress reporting

Costs

Manage team headcount within pre-agreed budgetary levels to achieve service metrics.

Collaboratively work with wider stakeholders to develop tools to support the delivery of continuous improvement.

Health and Safety

Lead a culture of health, safety and environment, including awareness of individual and corporate responsibilities regarding health and safety.

Develop a culture where near misses are understood and reported in a timely manner and all follow up completed.

Drive good standards across the site based on principles trained out to the operation

Will need to produce and then closely manage a strategy and plan that ensures the effective training of the future DC workforce and key interface and dependent roles.

Experience
  • Strong leadership and previous people management experience
  • Experience as a training manager within a distribution centre or production environment
  • Knowledge of quality compliance & warehouse systems
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work methodically & develop training strategy
  • Ability to deliver continuous improvement
  • Training & or quality qualifications desirable
